The foundation
The Gen-E Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation, established to unlock the potential of talented, under-resourced young people in rural South Africa, particularly in communities adjacent to renewable energy infrastructure.
Gen-E designs and operates high-impact educational, athletic, skills development and nutrition-focused programmes.
Dim Sum Energy places strong emphasis on socio-economic development, and Gen-E is its principal vehicle for it. From the portfolio of Wind Relic projects, a defined portion of revenues is allocated to both Gen-E and the Harrier Institute.
Academic and sporting development
The Harrier Institute is designed to provide long-term academic and sporting development for young people within host communities, rather than the short project-cycle interventions that typically follow energy investment.

Academic support and long-term educational pathways for young people in host communities.
Structured sporting development, the route through which the Harrier Institute reaches its intake.
Practical skills programmes aligned with the construction and operation of the energy assets nearby.
Nutrition-focused programmes, on the basis that neither education nor athletics works without it.
